I tried today a marcus miller mim, and maybe I was lucky, but the one I tried was really good, the set up was really good out of the box I might add that there was in the shop a japanese one signed by Marcus himself, he borrowed the bass to play a gig, so I could try how this one was set up, the bass was good, sounded nice, but the mexican one was better, the body of the mexican was also

IME, the average weight for a jazz bass is 9 to 9 1/2lbs. light ones are from 8 to 8 1/2 and hevy ones are 10 and up to 12 1/2 lbs. dinodino likes this. They both have the 9.5" radius on the neck which I believe is what is actually on Geddy's bass. I believe Fender switched from a 7.25" radius on the Jazz Bass to 9.5" radius either in the mid-70's or early 80's (a little help here!). Geddy's Jazz is a '72 though, so they both may be the wrong neck radius. This a great bass guitar. I own 8 Fender Jazz bass guitars and 2 Fender P-Bass guitars. This is the only non-U.S. made but I'll tell this; There's no noticeable difference between the GLJ, American Standard, American Deluxe other than the Deluxe having an active preamp.
